DESCRIPTION:National String Quartet Foundation\nbringing Live Chamber Music to The Carnegie Arts Centre\nTHE MELIORA QUARTET\n will perform on Friday 7th August at 6pm\nTHE MELIORA QUARTET\nCillian Ó Cathasaigh\, violin\, Seán Hurley\, violin\, Kseniia Yershova\, viola\, Alina Obreja\, cello \nThe Meliora Quartet was founded in September 2024 under the guidance of Christopher Marwood at the MTU Cork School of Music. Since its formation\, the quartet has performed across Cork and Kerry\, including appearances for the National String Quartet Foundation in Kinsale\, Kenmare\, and Youghal\, as well as at the NSQF Gala Concert. In spring 2025 they opened the “Vanbrugh and Friends” Concert Series as part of FUAIM at UCC. Their 2026 season promises an exciting lineup of performances that will bring the quartet to audiences throughout the Munster region. \nThe name “Meliora” comes from the Latin word for “improvement\,” a concept that lies at the core of the quartet’s artistic identity. Reflecting this ethos\, the group is committed to deeply exploring their repertoire and sharing music with insight\, curiosity\, and collective joy. \n  \nTickets are €20 \nTickets available at www.carnegieartskenmare.ie \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:National String Quartet Foundation\nbringing Live Chamber Music to The Carnegie Arts Centre\nTHE AURELIAN ENSEMBLE  \nwill perform on Friday 28th August at 6pm\n\n\n\n\nFRANZ SCHUBERT – Octet in F major D.803 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Aurelian Ensemble is a brand new Chamber Music Collective\, founded out of a shared love for Franz Schubert’s monumental Octet in F Major — a work whose warmth\, lyricism\, and symphonic scale have inspired musicians and audiences for generations. \nWritten in 1824 and modelled in part after Beethoven’s Septet\, the Octet expands the possibilities of chamber music with sweeping melodies\, rich textures\, and extraordinary interplay between the eight performers. \nThese performances celebrate Schubert’s Octet as the piece that has brought these eight dynamic young musicians – from a variety of backgrounds and all high achievers in their own right – together for their inaugural tour. \n\nTickets are €20 \nTickets available at: www.carnegieartskenmare.ie \n  \n\n
